  • Did you know that it is an excellent fabric softener? Half a cup of baking soda can be added to the laundry rinse cycles.
  • If we put it in the washing machine with cold water (instead of hot water) in the prewash, the colors will stay more vivid and the white more brilliant.
  • According to this study carried out by the University of Iowa, sodium bicarbonate is also a powerful antimicrobial and antifungal.

Eliminate odors from clothes with baking soda

Sodium bicarbonate has properties to absorb odors and neutralize them, according to this study by PSG Hospitals (India). This product works just as well on garbage can odors as it does on clothing. Therefore, if we want to take advantage of its properties as a deodorant before washing clothes, we have two options.

If the odor is localized

If you want to eliminate the bad smell from a part of the garment, such as the armpits, you can create a paste with baking soda and water and let it rest in the determined area.

If the smell is throughout the garment

In this case, it is best to leave the garment soaked overnight in a solution of baking soda with water. To do this, use a cup of baking soda per 4 liters of water.
