Clean the oven
Keeping the oven clean is essential. Indeed, remains of food or fat can get trapped in the walls or glass, so that they burn every time we cook, damaging our health.
For this reason, we must clean the oven thoroughly from time to time. Of course, also taking into account what type of oven we have to choose the appropriate procedure.
For example, there are self-cleaning ovens on the market in which it is only necessary to activate the self-cleaning mode and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. However, not all of us are lucky enough to have an oven with these characteristics, and we have to deal with encrusted dirt and grease.

Lemon
Cleaning the oven is not easy. Fat tends to stick everywhere and we already know how difficult it is to remove. However, there is a totally ecological and natural trick that is also effective: lemon.
- First, cut 3 lemons and squeeze the juice into an oven safe container.
- Next, close the oven and heat it to 250ºC for 30 minutes.
- The degreasing power of the lemon will have taken effect, so that later you will only have to clean with a cloth. Of course, be careful: do not start cleaning when the oven is still very hot.
Vinegar
Besides lemon, vinegar is also a natural antibacterial and degreaser.
- Add vinegar to a spray bottle and spray it around the inside of the oven. Be careful not to spray hot plates.
- Then, heat the oven to 120 ºC for 10 minutes.
- Finally, when it has cooled down a bit to avoid burning yourself, easily remove the remaining dirt with a cloth.
Baking soda
Another trick is to use baking soda, especially in the event that we have to clean a very dirty oven. For it:
- First, mix baking soda with water until you get a kind of paste.
- Then simply apply the paste to the walls of the oven (not the heating plates) and let it work for about two hours.
- Keep in mind that, in this case, you should not heat the oven.
- Finally, remove the paste and clean the dirt with a cloth.
Microwave oven
The microwave is a household appliance that tends to get very dirty. Indeed, splashes and grease make it one of the household appliances that require the most cleaning. However, cleaning it well is not difficult at all if you follow these tips:
Water, vinegar and salt
- In a microwave-safe container, add half a glass of water and half a glass of vinegar along with a tablespoon of salt.
- Next, cover the container with a lid that has holes (it can be microfilm paper that you have pierced).
- Put the container in the microwave on maximum power for 5 minutes. The steam from the mixture will descale the dirt on the oven walls.
- When the five minutes are up, do not remove the container. Let it act for another 10 minutes with the door closed.
- Finally, open your oven and easily remove the dirt with a cloth.
Baking soda and vinegar
- First, mix a glass of water with a tablespoon of vinegar in a microwave-safe container.
- Next, put the container in the oven and, at maximum power, let the whole glass evaporate.
- When it has evaporated, keep the door closed and let the created steam work for 10 minutes.
- Then, taking care that the container is not too hot, we remove it from the oven and apply baking soda with a sponge soaked in water.
- Finally, we only have to remove the baking soda from the walls with a cloth and dry the interior.
